MARISWE (Pty) Ltd (MARISWE) as the Professional Engineering Service Provider appointed by the South African National Roads Agency SOC Ltd (SANRAL) hereby invites experienced professional individuals or entities with professional staff, who reside and operate within the province of the Eastern Cape in the Great Kei or Amahlathi Local Municipalities or the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipal area, to submit a quotation for the position of the Social Facilitator for the provision of social facilitation services during the construction stage of the above-mentioned projects.

The intention of the appointment of the Social Facilitator is primarily to provide social facilitation services during the construction stage. He/ she must ensure sharing of project information with all interested and affected groups and the engagement of local communities, traditional authorities, and government departments on these national road upgrade projects within the Great Kei and Amahlathi Local Municipalities and the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipal area, all within the Amathole District Municipality area. He/she shall identify community needs pertaining to the projects and manage stakeholder expectations. He/ she must be familiar with the local social dynamics, language, and culture.

The upgrades will include the dualling of a portion of the R63, the rehabilitation and widening of the remaining portions of the R63 and the upgrade of all major intersections along this section, all designed to SANRAL standards. Further the relocation of farm accesses, provision of pedestrian and walkway facilities and the upgrading of access and community access roads will be undertaken. The contract duration for the services will be for a period of approximately 30 months with effect from the date of appointment.

The following documentation and minimum qualifications and experience are required for candidates to be considered for this position:

1. Appropriate tertiary qualifications / certificates in related field (Certified copy’s required);
2. Verifiable social facilitation experience of the Key Person/s with at least five (5) years on similar major civil engineering projects; 
3. Curricula Vitae of Key Person/s;
4. RSA ID of Key Person/s (Certified copy required);
5. Valid RSA drivers’ license (Certified copy required) and access to private or own vehicle; 
6. Reside permanently in the Great Kei or Amahlathi Local Municipalities or the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipal area (Proof of residential address not older than 3 months); and 
7. Excellent communication and people skills would be beneficial.
